Introduction
These statistics contain information on the take-up of the main income-related benefits in Great Britain for the financial year 2015/16. They are:
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Housing Benefit
Estimates for 2009/10, 2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/15 are also presented.
Main data sources used
The main data sources used to produce estimates of take-up are:
- the Family Resources Survey, used to model the population in private households entitled to income-related benefits
- the DWP and local authority benefit records data – the basis of the Work and Pensions Longitudinal Study
- the DWP Statistical Summaries – providing the counts of benefit recipients and typical amounts received
