Statistics are available via Stat-Xplore with a limited number of excel tables on this page.

We have withdrawn appeal outcome breakdowns from Stat-Xplore and the accompanying excel summary tables.

We reviewed the methodology for compiling the Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) and Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) official statistics. We identified a slightly wider set of circumstances in which the methodology was not processing data as expected.

The official statistics released on 14 May 2014 take account of improvements to the methodology and contain revisions to historical data. The statistics contained in both the latest excel tables on this page and Stat-Xplore supersede all previously published official statistics on JSA and ESA sanction decisions.

More details of the revisions are contained within Note 8 of the Statistical Summary published on 14 May 2014.

We have updated table 1.7 because some of the numbers contained within the breakdowns were from an earlier version of the table. Totals in the table are unaffected by this update.
