The national statistics on the provisional outturn figures of local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2013 to March 2014 and forecast figures for April 2013 to March 2014 was released on 1 July 2014 under arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
The statistical release includes data from 2009 to 2010, to 2014 to 2015.
- capital expenditure by local authorities in England has increased from £18.9 billion in 2012 to 2013 to £19.6 billion in 2013 to 2014, a year-on-year increase of almost 4%
- capital receipts have increased in 2013 to 2014 to £2.5 billion from £2.1 billion in 2012 to 2013, a year-on-year increase of 17%
- capital expenditure is forecast to increase to £27.1 billion in 2014 to 2015, a year-on-year rise of 38% - this figure is the highest amount yet recorded; receipts are forecast to increase to £2.8 billion in 2014 to 2015
- capital expenditure in 2013 to 2014 is 17% lower than the forecast of £23.7 billion
