This release provides the final outturn for local authority capital expenditure and receipts in the financial year April 2014 to March 2015.
The final outturn information is derived from capital outturn returns (COR) submitted by 443 local authorities in England.
Revised statistics have been published on 7 October 2015 superseding those published on 17 September 2015. Minor revisions have been made to tables 1 to 4 to include corrected figures received from Brentwood, Dudley and Greater London Authority. The revisions do not change any key points from the original release.
The dropdown tables for COR 1 & 2 and COR 4 have been updated to include corrected figures received from the 3 authorities.
Capital expenditure by local authorities in England increased to £21.5 billion in 2014 to 2015 from £19.7 billion in 2013 to 2014, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%.
4 November 2015 update
2014 to 2015 supplementary data for Housing Revenue Account capital expenditure, financing and major repairs reserve were collected on the 2014 to 2015 capital outturn return (COR) submitted by 443 local authorities in England. Reading failed to submit their capital outturn return.
They have been published later than the rest of the capital outturn return data to enable additional quality checks to be carried out. The main capital outturn return statistical release and data were first published on 17 September 2015 and then revised on 7 October 2015.
