The total quantity of landings by UK vessels (tonnes) decreased in December 2021 compared to both 2019 and 2020, down 17 per cent and 14 per cent respectively. However, the value (£000’s) of landings in December 2021 decreased compared to the same period in 2019 but increased compared to 2020, down 12 per cent and up 9 per cent respectively.

The cumulative landings from January to December 2021 showed an increase of 2 per cent and 1 per cent respectively from the same period in both 2019 and 2020.

Landings comprised of similar quantities across the three species groups (around 1/3 of total landings each) with Demersal and Shellfish landings being proportionally high compared to previous months due to a high commercial demand for these species around the Christmas period.
