Highlights
-
The quantity of landings (tonnes) decreased in June 2021 when compared to 2019 and 2020, down by 13 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. The value landed (£000’s), on the other hand, increased by 13 per cent when compared to 2020 but was lower when compared to 2019 (down 16 per cent).
-
The cumulative value (£000’s) of landings from January to June is 16 per cent less than the cumulative value in 2019 for the same period, but is 6 per cent more than the value landed by June in 2020.
-
Landings in June 2021 consist mostly of demersal and shellfish species which usually fetch a higher price. Therefore, even though landings are down compared to both 2019 and 2020, value landed is disproportionate to the quantity of landings.
