Public Health England has published the latest assessment of salt intake in adults aged 19 to 64 years in England as part of the National Diet and Nutrition Survey (NDNS) series. Results are based on a survey of 24 hour urinary sodium excretion in a sample of nearly 600 adults in England in 2018 to 2019. The last assessment of salt intake was carried out in 2014. The report includes:
- estimated salt intake for adults aged 19 to 64 years in 2018 to 2019 based on urinary sodium
- comparison with estimated salt intake in 2014
- an updated analysis of the trend in estimated salt intake over time since 2005 to 2006
