Offender Management Statistics quarterly: October to December 2021
Detailed quarterly statistics on offenders in custody (including offence groups, sentence lengths and nationalities), and quarterly and annual statistics on prison receptions, prison releases, adjudications, licence recalls and offenders under probation supervision. Minor revisions have been made to the 2021 and 2021 Q4 probation starts and terminations data. Please refer to the Details section below for further details.

Since the publication of these statistics, minor revisions have been made to the ‘Probation: October to December 2021’ and ‘Probation: 2021’ tables following further data quality assurance which identified an issue with the starts and terminations data for December 2021. The revised figures for October to December 2021 can be found in the ‘Probation: January to March 2022’ tables and the revised figures for 2021 can be found in the ‘Probation: 2021 (Revision)’ tables, along with further details of the revisions in the July 2022 edition of the ‘Guide to offender management statistics’ and revised CSV files in the ‘CSV dataset and variable guide: Probation 2021 and Q4 2021 (Revision)’.
Latest figures for the quarter October to December 2021 are provided and compared to the same period in 2020. This is with the exception of the prison population where more recent data are available (31 March 2022).
It covers flows into these services (receptions into prison or probation starts) and flows out (releases from prison or probation terminations) as well as the caseload of these services at specific points in time.
Pre-release list Offender Management Statistics are produced and handled by the Ministry of Justice’s (MOJ) analytical professionals and production staff. Pre-release access of up to 24 hours is granted to the following persons:
