Provisional estimates show motor vehicles travelled 318.6 billion vehicle miles in Great Britain for the year ending March 2022. This is a 29.7% increase compared to the year ending March 2021.
When compared to the year ending March 2021:
- car traffic increased by 32.9% to 237.5 billion vehicle miles
- van traffic increased by 25.2% to 58.8 billion vehicle miles
- lorry traffic increased by 10.1% to 17.8 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on motorways increased by 38.0% to 65.4 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on ‘A’ roads increased by 29.6% to 138.5 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on minor roads increased by 25.6% to 114.7 billion vehicle miles
