Provisional estimates of road traffic, by

Provisional estimates show motor vehicles travelled 330.1 billion vehicle miles (bvm) in Great Britain for the year ending September 2019.
When compared to the year ending September 2018:
- all motor vehicle traffic increased by 0.8%
- van traffic decreased by 1.4% to 50.4 billion vehicle miles
- lorry traffic decreased by 1.1% to 16.9 billion vehicle miles
- car traffic increased by 1.5% to 258.0 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on motorways increased by 0.9% to 68.9 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on ‘A’ roads increased by 1.2% to 150.3 billion vehicle miles
- traffic on minor roads remained broadly stable (increasing very slightly by 0.2% to 110.9 billion vehicle miles)
