Statistics on the number of local bus:

in Great Britain.
For the year ending September 2021, the number of local bus passenger journeys in:
- England was 2.21 billion, a 17% decrease
- London decreased by 14%
- England outside London decreased by 20%
When comparing local bus passenger journeys for July to September 2021 to July to September 2020, we see:
- a 47% increase in England
- London increased by 47%
- England outside London increased by 47%
- Scotland increased by 54%
- Wales increased by 86%
The local bus fares index increased by 0.9% in England between September 2020 and September 2021.
For other areas, the local bus fares index change was a:
- 3.3% increase in London
- 1.5% decrease in metropolitan areas
- 0.1% increase in non-metropolitan areas
- 0.3% increase in Scotland
- 0.0% change in Wales
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 3.1% over the same 12-month period.
This publication covers July to September 2021, which coincides with the application of movement restrictions due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in Great Britain.
