Documents
Details
This factsheet presents the latest provisional statistics for e-scooter casualties in reported road collisions including:
- monthly trends
- who is injured (age and sex)
- other casualties involved in accidents with e-scooters
- a breakdown by police force area.
Data covers the period to end 2021, and is considered final. Provisional figures for the first half of 2022 will be published in November 2022.
At this point, it has not been possible to included casualty rates for e-scooters, due to a lack of robust data on e-scooter trips or mileage. While e-scooters were added as a new mode in the department’s National Travel Survey in 2021, a low number of trips was recorded. The department will keep this data under review with the intention of presenting estimates of e-scooter trips, and casualty rates, when we have confidence in the quality of this data.
