Details
Indicators in the Sexual and reproductive health profiles have been updated. The annual update to reproductive health indicators gives national and local data to inform planning for reproductive and sexual health and contraceptive services for local populations. This includes information about inequalities such as deprivation, age and sex where this is available. They are intended for use by local government and health service professionals.
This release updates indicators relating to contraception:
- long-acting reversible contraception (LARC)
- injectable contraception
- short-acting hormonal contraception
- progesterone-only contraceptive pill
- attendance and specialist contraception services
Following user feedback, the combined neonatal mortality and stillbirth indicator which would normally have been updated in this release has been removed from the profile. The indicator continues to be available in the NHS Outcomes Framework. Information about neonatal mortality and stillbirths also remains available in the Fingertips tool as separate indicators.
Indicators for abortions and birth outcomes have not been updated because of delays in the publication of source data. Information about when these indicators will be updated instead will be published in the research and statistics calendar in coming months.
