Details

In October to December 2015:

  • there was a 3% increase in the number of road goods vehicles travelling from Great Britain to mainland Europe
  • road goods vehicles increased by 95,000 to 3.0 million taking the total to 3% higher than 2007, the pre-recession peak
  • of the total road goods vehicles, 2.3 million were powered vehicles and 0.7 million were unaccompanied trailers
  • there were 738,000 goods vehicles which travelled from Great Britain to mainland Europe (553,000 powered vehicles and 185,000 unaccompanied trailers)
  • there were 507,000 powered vehicles which disembarked in France, 7% lower compared to October to December 2014. In contrast, the number of powered vehicles disembarking in the Netherlands increased by 15% during this period to 39,000
