Road safety factors initial analysis
An initial look at the new road safety factors which will replace the existing contributory factors as part of the department's road casualty statistics.

As part of the most recent review of the STATS19 collection system, it was recommended that the contributory factors (CFs) element of the collection be replaced by a new set of road safety factors (RSFs).
This report presents initial analysis using the new road safety factors framework, based on mapping from contributory factor codes to illustrate the potential impacts of the changes on the published statistics.
The road safety statistics team intend to transition from CFs to RSFs in the published statistics, starting from the 2023 statistics scheduled for publication in September 2023.
