Details
The department has produced a large data set of estimated travel times from each neighbourhood of England to major transport network access point – airports, large rail stations and major road junctions.
This release introduces the travel time data set, which is effectively the result of a large number of journey planner queries, and illustrates potential uses.
Summary indicators provide measure of connectivity including:
- travel time indicators
- indicators measuring access to destinations (for example, catchment populations)
- indicators counting number of destinations within given travel times of an area
We are publishing these as experimental statistics, based on 2011 data, to assess whether they and/or the underlying data are useful and worth updating. Users can provide feedback via our online form.
Results tables are available from the data set links at the bottom of this page, and the underlying data is available from data.gov.uk.
