In accordance with Section 9 of the Pre-release Access to Official Statistics Order 2008, which was approved by Parliament under Section 11 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 and which came into effect on 1 December 2008, the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is publishing details on its operational arrangements.
These arrangements are for giving the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), HM Treasury ministers with departmental responsibility for VOA, Department for Communities and Local Government ministers and their key officials pre-release access to the organisation’s own official statistics once they are in their final form prior to publication.
These arrangements are designed to ensure that such access is justified, limited, controlled, publicised and compliant with statutory requirements. Their purpose is to maintain public confidence in the integrity of official statistics whilst allowing those eligible for pre-release access to comment immediately on the implications of statistics which cover policy or operational areas for which they are democratically responsible.
