The key findings for this release are:

just over 1.3 million certificates were issued, a decrease of 6% on the same quarter of 2014
-
the number of available qualifications this quarter increased slightly from 21,007 in October to December 2014 to 21,043, the highest number recorded
-
the number of certificates awarded for qualifications in construction, planning and the built environment has increased by 43% this quarter compared with the same quarter in 2014 (from 33,350 to 47,600)
-
the number of certificates awarded for qualifications at level 4 and above has increased by 25% on the same quarter in 2014 (from 21,050 to 26,250) mainly because of an increase in certificates awarded for qualifications in business management (from 5,950 to 9,500)
- the number of certificates awarded for qualifications in first aid at work (from 72,050 to 77,200), health and safety in the workplace (from 21,300 to 23,000) and paediatric first aid (from 10,750 to 13,350) has increased this quarter
- certificates awarded in Northern Ireland have increased by 4% this quarter compared with the same quarter in the previous year, while certificates awarded in England and Wales have decreased by 5% and 17%, respectively
