Applications are now open for a Mansion House scholarship programme to mark the visit of the Lord Mayor of the City of London in September 2014.

Background of the Scheme:

The Mansion House scholarship programme was established in 1988 and is administered as a Charitable Trust. Over 120 Scholarships have now been awarded by successive Lord Mayors. The scheme aims to attract the brightest and best from the financial services sector or Government Ministries in countries with strong links to the UK. Scholars are selected from countries where the Lord Mayor has visited that year and those who have been accepted to study at a British University or to attend a short attachment or business training course in the City of London. The award value is in the region of £5-£7k – subject to applicants training in Financial Services or related subjects.

Criteria:

  • Applicants must be graduates with at least a Bachelor’s degree or better

  • The topic of choice must be financial services related

  • Applicants should ideally be under 35yrs old, although this can be awarded to older applicants but the Lord Mayor will make the final decision

  • Applicants must be studying at Masters’ level or equivalent

  • Applicants must have secured their own admission at a reputable University

  • Applicants should use the attached application form with as much supporting evidence they can provide

South Africa’s Success:

During his visit in 2011, the previous Lord Mayor of the City of London, Alderman Bear, awarded a Mansion House Scholarship to Shameela Ebrahim who works at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). She was also awarded a Chevening Scholarship to run together with the Mansion House Scholarship that year. Shameela successfully completed her Masters degree in Sustainability Leadership at Cambridge and will be graduating this May.

Use the attached Application Form (MS Word Document, 97 KB) to apply and send applications to Samantha Mandigora no later than 30 June 2014.
