Chevening Scholarships
The Chevening Secretariat is accepting applications for 2016/2017 Chevening Scholarships from 3 August until 3 November 2015.
Six talented professionals from Algeria will shortly travel to the UK to study for a Master’s degree in the UK, as part of the Chevening scholarship. The scholarship programme is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and awarded to outstanding individuals with strong academic backgrounds who also have demonstrable leadership potential. It offers financial support for a Master’s level degree at one of the UK’s leading universities and the opportunity to become part of an influential global network of 44,000 alumni.
The six Algerian scholars were honoured at a reception hosted by Ambassador Andrew Noble at his residence on 26 August.
British Ambassador to Algeria said:
I’m delighted to see so many Chevening Scholarships awarded in Algeria this year. This is our biggest number ever. I was very impressed with the young professionals I met today. They all have the potential to make a real difference to Algeria’s continuing development. I believe that the role of Chevening Scholars is very important in building bridges between Algeria and the UK as Chevening Scholars learn how to become ambassadors for knowledge and for leadership.’’
There are approximately 1,500 Chevening Scholarships on offer globally for the 2016/2017 academic cycle. These scholarships represent a significant investment from the UK Government to develop the next cohort of global leaders.
