International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia

The British High Commission, Barclays and the British Chamber marked the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHO) 2013 with a presentation by Simon Croxford and Harriet Guest of Barclays on the Spectrum Employee Network.
Since 2002 Barclays Spectrum Employee Network has supported its Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) employees and in 2011 Spectrum Singapore was created. Spectrum is part of Barclays’ wider efforts to be an employer that sees all of its staff as the foundation of its success, whatever their style, personality, age, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
The British Chamber also supported the event and currently expanding its efforts on diversity in the workplace. A number of British companies attended and were keen to develop their own inclusivity policies inspired by Barclay’s model. More on Barclay’s approach can be viewed here:
Other attendees included Bryan Choong of Oogachaga, a counselling and personal development organisation for LGBT people, blogger and intellectual Alex Au, who both spoke, and representatives of UNWOMEN, the Canadian Chamber of Commerce and LGBT groups.
