Before heading to Brisbane for the Summit, the Prime Minister began his trip in Sydney on Friday morning, addressing senior business leaders alongside Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Prime Minister Cameron used the opportunity to encourage continued Australian investment in the UK and partnering on infrastructure projects.

Prime Minister Cameron then headed to Canberra to address the Australian Parliament, where he announced new measures to combat foreign fighters to be included in the Counter-Terrorism Bill, set to be introduced in the British Parliament by the end of this month.

Following his address at Parliament House, Prime Minister Cameron laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Australian War Memorial.

His Excellency Paul Madden CMG, British High Commissioner to Australia, said: “The visit is an opportunity to celebrate many of the values we share with one of our closest allies.”

Prime Minister Cameron last visited Australia in November 2011 for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).
