Representatives from 26 British universities visited Chile

Chilean alumni and British university delegation celebrate UK-Chile higher education collaborations at the British residence.

Representatives from 26 British universities attended a reception at the Ambassador’s residence in honour of the 2014 EducationUK Exhibition organised by the British Council and the Embassy in Santiago. Over 75 Chilean alumni who pursued post-graduate degrees in the UK, including various Chevening scholars, joined the university delegation at the event to celebrate higher education collaborations between Chile and the UK.

The UK, for the fourth year in a row, has been chosen as the number one destination for Chilean government-funded postgraduate scholars in the ‘Becas Chile’ scheme. The British ambassador, Fiona Clouder,and the director of the British Council in Chile, Andrew Chadwick, both emphasised how the importance of strong UK-Chile education ties contributes to long lasting academic as well as professional relationships between the two countries.
