UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport to visit India
The Rt Hon Sajid Javid, British MP and Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport will visit Kolkata and New Delhi from 13-16 October.
Sajid Javid’s visit to India is the latest in a series by senior British government ministers.
The visit aims to emphasise that Britain is keen to develop a stronger, wider, deeper partnership with India.
Our cultural relations are strong from supporting each others’ rich heritages to multiple collaborations in the creative industries.
In Kolkata, the minister will host a Round Table on UK-India museum partnerships and a “Culture Is GREAT” reception. He will also launch the first all girls football team as part of our programme with the Premier League. Amongst several events to promote culture and tourism, Sajid Javid will also participate in a ceremony to commemorate the centenary of World War One and the one million Indians who fought in it.
In New Delhi, Sajid Javid will deliver a keynote speech at a UK-funded Cyber Governance Security conference. He will meet Ravi Shankar Prasad, Indian Minister for Law, Communications and IT and Sripad Yasso Naik, Indian minister for Culture and Tourism. He will also visit Rajghat and Gandhi Smriti.
