UK Trade Envoy to visit Cambodia

The Lord Puttnam CBE, will visit Cambodia from 4 to 7 March 2014. The visit is to strengthen trade and investment ties with Cambodia.

Speaking before his visit, Lord Puttnam said:

I am delighted to visit Cambodia for the first time as David Cameron’s Trade Envoy to understand more about trade and investment environment in Cambodia. I wish to boost commercial, educational, cultural and political relations between our two Kingdoms.

During his visit, Lord Puttnam will call on Prime Minister Hun Sen, Education Minister HE Dr Hang Choun Naron, and Commerce Minister HE Mr Sun Chanthol, to discuss business and education opportunities and challenges. He is due to meet UK business representatives and meet with Cambodian alumni of UK Universities. Lord Puttnam will host a film screening of ‘The Killing Fields’ at Meta House.

  • UKTI opened its office in Cambodia in January 2013. Bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Cambodia has steadily grown and is likely to hit USD 1 billion this year.
  • Lord (David) Puttnam has been Trade Envoy to Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Burma since November 2012, and was formerly a renowned film producer of award-winning films including The Mission, The Killing Fields, Local Hero, Chariots of Fire, Midnight Express, Bugsy Malone, and Memphis Belle.
