Adverse Weather and Health Plan equity review and impact assessment

This Adverse Weather and Health Plan (AWHP) equity review and impact assessment reviews existing evidence of the risks posed by adverse weather to different populations. It outlines next steps to improve understanding of these risks.

Applies to England

Summary

The Adverse Weather and Health Plan (AWHP) equity review and impact assessment 2024 supports UKHSA’s requirement under the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) to report on the potential impacts of the Adverse Weather and Health Plan (AWHP) on different populations. It applies NHS England’s CORE20PLUS framework to identify populations at risk (including those with protected characteristics).

The review covers:

  • evidence on inequalities in risks to health from adverse weather events
  • how the AWHP addresses these risks for different populations
  • recommendations for strengthening action to help reduce inequalities in risk across populations now and in future

Please see the full review for detailed findings.
