Apply for energy bill support for non-domestic properties
Apply for support towards energy bills for a non-domestic property which is not connected to the gas grid.
Use this service to apply for support towards energy bills for a non-domestic property which is not connected to the gas grid. You can apply for £150 fixed payment for alternative fuel use or the high users of heating oil (kerosene) support.
Non-domestic properties include:
- farms, warehouses, pubs and hotels run by businesses or individuals
- those run by voluntary sector organisations, such as charities
- places of worship and community halls
- public buildings, such as schools, hospitals and prisons
Individuals, organisations or businesses with non-domestic properties connected to the electricity grid should receive £150 automatically. If you have not received this, you may be eligible to apply for this.
Non-Domestic Alternative Fuel Payment
You can apply for a fixed payment of £150 if:
- the property is not connected to the gas grid
- the property is not connected to the electricity grid
- you purchased alternative fuels for use at the property between September 2022 and January 2023
Alternative fuels include liquid petroleum gas (LPG), solid fuel, wood or kerosene (heating oil).
Non-Domestic Alternative Fuel Payment for High Users of Heating Oil
You can apply for a ‘top-up’ payment of £750 to £5,800 (with further payments for the highest users) if:
- the property is not connected to the gas grid
- you purchased over 10,000 litres of kerosene (heating oil) for use as a fuel on site at the property over a recent 12-month period
You cannot apply for a ‘top-up’ payment if you purchased the kerosene (heating oil) for:
- generating electricity which is returned to the grid
- transportation
- selling to end-users in another location
Properties that are both residential and non-domestic
If a property is both residential and non-domestic, the organisation or business paying for alternative fuels at the property can use this service. This includes properties such as care homes, working farms or retail units with living space.
Individuals living at a property that is both residential and non-domestic must apply to the Energy Bills Support Scheme.
Before you start
You should collect details about yourself, your business and the property before starting your application. To apply for multiple properties, you must submit separate applications for each property.
You must provide:
- an organisation or business registration number such as Companies House number or registered charity number, if applicable
- UK bank or building society account details
- an email address we can contact you on
- evidence for the payment you are applying for
When prompted, you can upload batches of 10 documents at a time. This does not prevent you from adding more than 10 documents.
