Overview
If you wish to spend some or most of your time running a childcare provision from new non-domestic premises under your existing registration, or if you wish to add a new non-domestic premises to your childminder without domestic premises registration, you must apply using this form. You do not have to pay an extra application fee and you must follow the same requirements as your original registration.
Non-domestic premises include places like church halls or parts of a school or community centres. Non-domestic premises also include outdoor spaces, as long as there is a defined area that is only used by children, and houses not used as a domestic dwelling. You can work from different premises on a daily basis, or on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis. You must describe how you will divide the work between any new and existing premises and tell us about premises you are no longer using in your application.
We will need to approve your non-domestic premises before you can work there. However, you can still offer childcare at your existing premises until the non-domestic premises are approved. You do not need to seek approval for outings to non-domestic premises, where children continue to be picked up and dropped off from your main premises.
It is an offence to provide care from additional non-domestic premises without our approval.
Childminders and childcare on domestic premises
You can submit the EYA form when you submit your main application or once you are registered. You can choose how you will split your time between your domestic and non-domestic premises but must spend some of your time working from your registered domestic premises.
Childminders without domestic premises
If you want to spend all of your time operating from non-domestic premises, you must register as a childminder without domestic premises or provider of childcare on non-domestic premises depending on the total number of people providing care.
You must only use this form if you are already registered with Ofsted and you wish to add new non-domestic premises to your registration. If you are not registered, you can provide details of all of your non-domestic premises in your main application to register as a childminder without domestic premises.
If you are only registered on the voluntary part of the Childcare Register
You can provide childcare on non-domestic premises where this is permitted by your registration and can seek approval of these non-domestic premises if you wish to do so. However, you must always let us know the address of your new non-domestic premises so we can add this to your Ofsted registration.
Before you apply
The premises must be ready to use as soon as we grant approval and must provide a suitable environment in which to care for children. You must have all the necessary arrangements in place at the premises as set out in the ‘Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage’ and the childcare registration requirements.
You will need:
- details of your current registration or your main application reference number
- details about the non-domestic premises where you want to work from and how you propose to split your time between your new and existing premises
How to apply
The EYA form should be completed by the main applicant or the registered person. If you are an organisation, the nominated individual should complete this form.
You should complete the form electronically and email it along with your main application reference number or your unique reference number (URN), to enquiries@ofsted.gov.uk. Alternatively you can scan or photograph your manually completed form and send it by email. After you apply
Once we have reviewed your application we will contact you to let you know if it has been approved or not. If approved, you will receive an updated certificate in the post. You will need to display your certificate at the premises where you are offering childcare.
Tell Ofsted about any other changes
The changes you must tell us about are set out in the ‘Statutory framework for the early years foundation stage’ and the childcare registration requirements. This includes telling us about any changes that affect your childcare.
