Guidance on how HM Courts and Tribunals Service supports you if you want to breastfeed or nurse in our courts and tribunals buildings

Commitment to breastfeeding

The Equality Act 2010 provides those breastfeeding complete confidence while going about their day-to-day business.

At HM Courts and Tribunals Service we will support you if you want to breastfeed your child or express milk while in our courts and tribunals buildings.

We make the following commitments:

  • you can breastfeed and express milk while you are using our buildings
  • our public areas are breastfeeding and expressing friendly
  • if you prefer you can breastfeed or express in private, and you will be given access to rooms in which you can do this

We will not discriminate against you if you are breastfeeding.

Get in touch beforehand

If you want access to a private room for breastfeeding or expressing, you may find it helpful to get in touch with us before you arrive. Some of our buildings have specially designated rooms.

Our contact details will be on any of the letters you receive from us, or you can search find your local court or tribunal.
