Check if you can get an electronic travel authorisation (ETA)

List of nationalities that can apply for an ETA.

An ETA allows you to travel to the UK to visit for up to 6 months. Whether you can apply depends on your nationality as shown on your passport.

Trinidad and Tobago nationals can no longer get an ETA. Check how to visit the UK as a national of Trinidad and Tobago.

British National (Overseas) passport holders do not need an ETA or a visa to visit the UK.

Who can apply now

Nationalities from the following locations (including associated territories) can apply for an ETA now.

You can also apply for an ETA now if you have a passport issued by Taiwan which includes the number of the identification card issued by the competent authority in Taiwan.

Other nationalities

Other nationalities cannot get an ETA. Check if you need a visa instead.

  1. Removed British National (Overseas) from the list of who can apply now. British National (Overseas) passport holders do not need an ETA or a visa to visit the UK.

  3. Nationals of EU countries (except Ireland), Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Monaco, San Marino and Vatican City can now apply for an ETA.
