The chemical standards database is not available anymore. Contact the Environment Agency if you need to know the chemical standards and targets they use in protecting and improving water quality.

Applies to England

This database provided access to chemical standards used by the Environment Agency.

The Environment Agency use standards and targets to help them protect and improve water quality.

By calculating the potential impacts of industry and agriculture on the environment they are able to set standards and targets. For example, to work out the conditions the Environment Agency must impose on discharges to protect water quality.

The standards also help the Environment Agency to check national progress in protecting water quality and work out where action is needed.

Contact the Environment Agency if you need to know the chemical standards and targets they use in protecting and improving water quality.
