Civil Service Directors Network
A network run by Civil Service directors, for directors, based anywhere in the UK (and for those posted overseas).
We are a network run by Civil Service directors, for directors, based anywhere in the UK (and for those posted overseas). The Directors Network provides a space for directors to share skills and knowledge, and to build networks and communities beyond our professional, functional and departmental silos. We work together to lead the Civil Service on key issues such as Civil Service reform, collaborative leadership, and tackling knotty public service issues.
What to expect
You can expect opportunities to come together and hear sessions led by fellow directors, as well as the opportunity to take part in small group conversations with permanent secretaries and directors general.
Throughout the year we will have two series of events running depending on the availability of speakers. They will be “A Directors Network conversation with…” and director-led in-person events. We also encourage directors in the network to run sessions.
A Directors Network conversation with…
An opportunity for 8 to 10 directors to come together to hear from a permanent secretary or director general about key challenges. It also offers a space for networking.
Director-led in-person events
We will host 3 in-person events per year led by directors, showcasing their expertise and providing insight into the challenges that directors share.
Why join?
Our Network provides peer support and development by connecting directors in an informal environment. We encourage discussions outside of business-as-usual interactions. We are a network that puts directors at the forefront of our agenda.
Eligibility
Our network is open to all senior civil servant pay band 2 (SCS2) directors across the UK Civil Service.
Steering group and chairs
We draw upon the expertise of a cross-Civil Service steering group, led by 3 co-chairs.
Our co-chairs are:
- Caroline Crowther – Director of Private Rented Sector and Leasehold – Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
- Charlotte Spencer – Director of Private Rented Sector and Leasehold – Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities
- Barry Hooper – Chief Commercial Officer – Ministry of Justice / Government Commercial Function
