Appointing other directors to your limited company has implications for you and the new director.
Appointing new directors
Every limited company must have at least one director.
But you might decide to appoint other directors in the event, for example, your company expands.
Before you appoint new directors
You should consider carefully why you are appointing new directors before doing so.
You should only appoint new directors if they are taking an active part in the control of your company.
This is because the law considers all directors of a company to be responsible for all the duties and obligations involved.
And all directors are potentially liable for any wrongdoing.
New directors must be:
- aged 16 or above
- not disqualified from being a director
- not undischarged bankrupt
- not auditing the company
