Director information hub: Getting a limited company started

How you start a limited company.

Help us to improve the director information hub by completing a short feedback survey.

Incorporation (registering)

You can incorporate or register (it means the same thing) your limited company yourself or pay someone to do it for you.

There are advantages to both.

Doing it yourself

The process of incorporation is straightforward and it will save you money by doing it yourself.

You register your company with Companies House.

To make sure you do this correctly there is a step-by step guide to help.

Paying someone to do it

If you do not want to register yourself, you should use a ‘formation agent’.

This could save you time and make sure that you have completed all the tasks correctly.

You will be charged for this service by the formation agent

A list of approved formation agents is available from Companies House.
