Guidance

EU Third Health Programme (Health for Growth) funding

Information for UK and EU organisations about existing and future funding.

This guidance is for UK organisations such as universities and businesses that currently receive Third Health Programme funding.

It is also for EU organisations working with UK participants on projects that receive funding from the Programme.

The EU Third Health Programme funds projects that:

  • promote health
  • protect from serious cross-border health threats
  • support public health capacity building
  • facilitate access to better and safer healthcare

The EU’s Consumers, Health, Agriculture and Food Executive Agency (Chafea) manages the funding and programme. It puts the necessary grant agreements in place.

Changes to funding

The UK will continue to participate in programmes funded under the 2014 to 2020 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) until their closure.

This means that UK organisations currently receiving EU Third Health Programme funding will continue to receive it after 1 January 2021. They will receive it for the lifetime of their project and joint actions.

Organisations cannot apply for new EU Third Health Programme funding.
