Facilitating online meetings course
One hour GDS Academy online course on tools and techniques for leading interactive and engaging meetings in virtual rooms.
Course summary
This course aims to introduce the tools and techniques to lead engaging and interactive meetings in an online environment using a combination of talks, exercises and fun activities embracing the principle of “learning by doing”. During the 1 hour session, there will be an opportunity to interact with the Academy facilitator and other attendees while the techniques being shared in this session will role model how the interaction works. The session is platform agnostic so that all the techniques are applicable for use on the most popular video conferencing platforms used today. This course is typically delivered via Zoom. You are welcome to use a personal device to join; all content is unclassified and there is no requirement to download any software or information.
This GDS Academy online course is aimed at people who are running online meetings where engagement or collaboration of attendees is an important factor.
Course aims and objectives
This course introduces interactive techniques to people who need to run effective and engaging meetings online.
By the end of the course you will be able to:
- explain what makes a good interactive online meeting
- recognise how different software can support collaboration during virtual meetings
- understand what is needed to run an effective online meeting

Eligibility
This online course is aimed at anyone who needs to run effective online meetings using virtual tools.
Duration
This course takes 1 hour to complete.
Cost
The course costs £60 plus VAT per person. You must have a purchase order before requesting a place on the course.
Training locations
This course is run online. Attendees will need access to a desktop or laptop computer with broadband access and be able to access zoom video conferencing along with access to your microphone.

- organisation
- email address
- the course date you would like to attend, from those available
- purchase order number
- postal address for your finance department to quote on the invoice
- an email contact for the invoice to be sent to, once raised

If you want to book for a group, you can choose:
- an open group (people from other organisations can join the training)
- a closed group (this is only for you and people you invite)
If you are booking for a closed group, you must include:
