Housing Land Supply Annual Position Statements

The concept of an Annual Position Statement (APS) was introduced in the National Planning Policy Framework in July 2018.

The concept of an Annual Position Statement (APS) was introduced in the National Planning Policy Framework in July 2018. The Planning Practice Guidance sets out the process that local planning authorities should follow if they wish to confirm their housing land supply through an APS. The Planning Inspectorate will publish a list of local authorities who have notified them of their intention to seek confirmation of their 5 year housing land supply.

Notifications received 2024

By 1 April 2024, the following local planning authority had indicated an intention to submit an Annual Position Statement:

  • Sunderland City Council (update 8 July 2024 – Sunderland City Council no longer intend to submit an Annual Position Statement)
  • Dorset Council

Statements received 2023

By 31 July 2023 the following local planning authorities had submitted an Annual Position Statement to the Planning Inspectorate:

  • Sunderland City Council
  • South Kesteven District Council

By 1 April 2023, the following local planning authorities had indicated an intention to submit an Annual Position Statement:

  • South Kesteven District Council
  • Sunderland City Council

By 31 July 2022 the following local planning authorities had submitted an Annual Position Statement to the Planning Inspectorate:

  • South Kesteven District Council
  • Sunderland City Council

By 31 July 2019 the following local planning authorities had submitted an Annual Position Statement to the Planning Inspectorate:

The maximum file size per email is 15MB. Content greater than this should either be separated, or submitted to that address via WeTransfer or Drop Box.
