How to check SIA licence cards
Guidance explaining what security features to look for when checking SIA licence cards are valid.
What to look for on the front of the licence card
There are 3 security features to look for on the front of the licence card.
Name is raised
The licence holder’s name is embossed on the card, not printed on. You should be able to run your finger over the name and feel that it is raised.
Hologram
You should be able to see a hologram when you tilt the licence card backward and forward.
SIA logos
A UV light should reveal the SIA logo in the top right and bottom left corners of the licence card.
What to look for on the back of the licence card
There are 2 security features to look for on the back of the licence card.
Post code
The address on the back of the licence card should show the following post code: E14 1UG.
Bar code
On the back of the licence card there is a bar code in the top-left corner. The bar code should bring up the same licence number as shown on the front.
