How to report GIAA fraud, bribery and corruption
What is GIAA fraud, bribery corruption?
The first step in fighting fraud, bribery and corruption against GIAA is knowing how to spot it.
Fraud – is deception carried out for personal gain and can involve the abuse of a position of trust.
Bribery – the Bribery Act 2010 defines bribery as giving or receiving a financial or other advantage in connection with the ‘improper performance’ of a position of trust that is expected to be performed impartially or in good faith.
Corruption - is a form of dishonesty and refers to an individual who has given or obtained advantage through means which are illegitimate, immoral and/or inconsistent with their duty to an organisation or the rights of others.
Fraud, bribery and corruption affects the ability of Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA) to deliver its internal audit services and support for the UK government. Where fraud, bribery and corruption occur, resources and finances are wrongfully diverted from their intended purpose.
All GIAA employees are required to act honestly, with integrity and propriety at all times. The expectations for behaviour are outlined in the Civil Service Code, including that civil servants should not misuse their position or information to further their own interests. GIAA will not tolerate fraud, bribery or corruption and we treat this as an extremely serious matter.
