Reaching the pages you need

The GOV.UK website has no left-hand navigation. To find your way to content, use Google, the website search box or the links that you will find on most pages.

You’ll also find links to each of the procedure rule committee’s content below and in the top right of each committee’s organisation pages.

Civil Procedure Rule Committee

The aim of the civil procedure rules is to enable the courts to deal with cases justly.

Family Procedure Rule Committee

The family procedure rules are a single set of rules governing the practice and procedure in family proceedings in the high court, county courts and magistrates’ courts.

Criminal Procedure Rule Committee

The criminal procedure rules give courts explicit powers to actively manage the preparation of criminal cases waiting to be heard, to get rid of unfair and avoidable delays.

Other procedure rules for magistrates’ courts and the Crown Court

There are also some procedure rules for magistrates’ courts and the Crown Court which are not made by the other committees.
