Condition EDSQ9 Interpretation and Definitions

  1. EDSQ9.1 The rules of interpretation and definitions outlined in General Condition J1 shall apply to the Qualification Level Conditions for EDS Qualifications.
  2. EDSQ9.2 Except in the circumstances described in Condition EDSQ9.3, the requirements imposed by the Qualification Level Conditions for EDS Qualifications apply in addition to the requirements imposed by the General Conditions of Recognition.
  3. EDSQ9.3 To the extent that there is any inconsistency between –
    1. (a) a requirement of an Essential Digital Skills Qualification Condition and an awarding organisation’s ability to provide either a particular type of Reasonable Adjustment or Special Consideration, such that the awarding organisation is prevented from providing that Reasonable Adjustment or Special Consideration, the awarding organisation may provide that Reasonable Adjustment or Special Consideration and is not obliged to comply with the requirement of the Essential Digital Skills Qualification Condition,
    2. (b) in all other cases, a requirement of an Essential Digital Skills Qualification Condition and a requirement of the General Condition of Recognition, such that an awarding organisation could not comply with both such requirements, the awarding organisation must comply with the requirement of the Essential Digital Skills Qualification Condition and is not obliged to comply with the requirement of the General Condition of Recognition.
  4. EDSQ9.4 In these Conditions, the following words shall have the meaning given to them below (and cognate expressions should be construed accordingly) –

EDS Qualification

A qualification in essential digital skills.

EDS National Standards

The National Standards for Essential Digital Skills, published by the Department for Education and revised from time to time.
