Oil and gas: Project Pathfinder

Project Pathfinder offers a real-time look at oil and gas projects and the decommissioning of redundant facilities on the UK Continental Shelf.

The Oil & Gas Authority launched a new website on 3 October 2016 to reflect its new status as a government company.

This formalises the transfer of the Secretary of State’s regulatory powers in respect of oil and gas to the OGA, and grants it new powers.

This website will no longer be updated. Visitors should refer to www.ogauthority.co.uk

On 1st April 2015 certain functions passed from the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) to the Oil and Gas Authority (OGA) a newly created Executive Agency of DECC

Overview

The OGA has listened to the supply chain and understands that early information about emerging projects is helpful. As a result, Project Pathfinder has been established to provide a real-time look at the oil and gas projects for new field developments, and the decommissioning of redundant facilities in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

Project Pathfinder’s information includes the location, type of development, and timings of business opportunities. It supplies all-important contact details within companies and increases visibility of the contracting community and aims to build on the information available from existing forums such as PILOT’s Share Fair and Forward Workplan.

Industry has been supportive of Project Pathfinder, as have influential industry bodies that find it useful for the supply chain to plan ahead and be in a more competitive position to win a share of UKCS contracts.
