Guidance to support fishermen on The Marine Management Organisation's plans on vessel monitoring systems for under-12m vessels.
The aim is for all under-12m vessels in England to have an on-board monitoring device which will, for the first time, provide a clearer picture of all fishing activity in England’s seas.
MMO is undertaking a ‘type approval’ process, to identify a range of approved suppliers and devices so that fishers have a choice of device and service plan appropriate to their size and type of vessel.
This fact sheet addresses some of the issues we have already discussed in regular engagement with fishers and with the potential approved suppliers of the devices. We don’t have all the answers yet, but we will update regularly.
