Apply for a transport sanctions licence to carry out transport-related activities which would otherwise be prohibited.

Apply for a licence

UK transport sanctions prohibit certain transport activities relating to Belarus, Libya, North Korea, Russia and Syria.

Use this form to apply for a licence to carry out transport activities, that would otherwise be prohibited.

To complete this form you will need information about:

  • you and your company, or the person you are applying on behalf of
  • the aircraft or ship, including the name, owner, size and age, identification, registration number (aircraft) or IMO number (ships)
  • the specific activity you want to do
  • details of any flight or voyage
  • other relevant details that might help with decisions about your application

When you should apply

You should apply for a licence well in advance of when it will be required to give the department enough time to process your request.

We will email you within 5 working days to confirm receipt of your application, and will seek to engage within 4 weeks of this notification.

Depending on the complexity of the case, or if we need more information from you, the application may take longer than this.

How we use your personal information

The Department for Transport will use the personal information you provide to process your application.

Any personal information you provide will be kept securely within the department and destroyed 5 years after the expiry or termination of the licence, subject to review based on potential enforcement requirements. We will only share your data with other organisations for the purpose of processing the application or for law enforcement reasons. These organisations could include harbour authorities, ports, airports, government departments, the police or other law enforcement agencies.
