Using British Sign Language to contact Companies House

Our video relay service allows Deaf BSL users to call Companies House through a team of SignVideo interpreters.

How to use SignVideo

You can call Companies House during our standard hours, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6pm. You can use the video relay service through the web or download the SignVideo app to your device.

SignVideo web

A SignVideo interpreter will appear on your screen to interpret your conversation.

The video relay service uses a free plugin. You may need to change the security settings on your device to install this.

SignVideo app

When you open the app, you’ll see the SignDirectory.

Scroll down the SignDirectory and look for the service you want to call. Click on the button for that service and a SignVideo interpreter will appear on your screen to interpret your conversation.

What you’ll need

To use SignVideo, you’ll need:

  • your device
  • a webcam
  • good internet connection

Device

You can use:

  • Windows PC app
  • Apple Mac app
  • iOS app
  • Android app
  • SignVideo web service

Webcam

Your webcam can be either plugged in or built in.

Good internet connection

For the best experience with SignVideo, we recommend a minimum 2mbps upload and download internet speed. Your internet connection can be:

  • 3G,4G,5G mobile network
  • plugged in broadband or ethernet
  • WiFi
