What you can do to prevent violence against your staff

Violence against security staff is unacceptable. Find out what you can do to prevent it.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) publishes advice on preventing work-related violence. This includes a toolkit that:

  • tells you how to conduct a risk assessment
  • suggests control measures that other businesses have found effective

You should encourage your staff to report any incidents of violence against them. If they are assaulted at work they should tell you and the police, and report the attack to us.

They may be able to claim compensation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority.
