Unless there is good reason to the contrary all visits should be made by appointment with the operator. Ask if there are any particular requirements about specific local hazards or safety equipment; this should be recorded in the business’s folder.

It may be advisable to check whether any blasting is due to take place on the day of the visit, in case you wish to alter the time of the visit, or to avoid driving through the gate when an explosion takes place.

You should park only in areas as pointed out by the business, and, when inspecting the site, use only walkways and safe viewing areas, as pointed out by the business’s staff.

Be aware of slippery or uneven ground.

You should be accompanied by a responsible member of the business’s staff at all times whilst moving about the site, and that they are informed of both your arrival at and departure from the site.

You should comply with any safe systems operated by the business.
