CCM15395 - Undisclosed Partners: Separated couple living at the same address
CCM15070 acknowledges that a separated couple may sometimes continue to live at the same address for financial reasons. Usually this is because one or both of them would be unable to buy or rent suitable accommodation or they cannot sell their old property or there would be a significant penalty to pay if they redeemed their mortgage.
Where a customer says they are still living at the same address as their ex-partner you will need to consider what aspects of their financial or domestic circumstances have changed. (This content has been withheld because of exemptions in the Freedom of Information Act 2000)

These can be difficult and sensitive issues but what you are trying to establish is whether a married couple or civil partners are separated in such circumstances as to be permanent. And for other couples are they are still living together as though married or in a civil partnership.
Note: The Marriage (same sex couples) Act 2013 extended marriage to same sex couples. See TCTM06100 for the definition of a couple.
Note: The Civil Partnership (opposite sex couples) Regulations 2019 extended civil partnerships to opposite sex couples. See TCTM06100 for the definition of a couple.
