COM1085 - Accounting periods: company accounting periods: using MAPD to create more than 5 APs
It is July 2024 and you want to amend the AP (Accounting Period) record of a company for the periods from 01/04/2019 to 31/12/2024. The existing record and the actual and expected APs are as follows:
Recorded APs |
Actual and Expected APs |
01/04/2019 to 31/03/2020 |
01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019 |
01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021 |
01/01/2020 to 31/12/2020 |
01/04/2021 to 31/03/2022 |
01/01/2021 to 31/12/2021 |
01/04/2022 to 31/03/2023 |
01/01/2022 to 31/12/2022 |
01/04/2023 to 31/03/2024 |
01/01/2023 to 31/12/2023 |
|
01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024 |
Function MAPD (Maintain AP Dates) will not let you make the changes in one operation because it:
· will not let you enter more than five new APs at a time
· demands that the end date of the last AP you enter either:
· coincides with that of a currently recorded AP shown on the screen
· is later than that of any currently recorded AP
In these circumstances, you have to use the function twice. The first time you could amend the AP record to
01/01/2019 to 31/12/2019
01/01/2020 to 31/12/2020
01/01/2021 to 31/12/2021
01/01/2022 to 31/12/2022
01/01/2023 to 31/03/2023
Please note that the last AP is a ‘dummy’ AP terminating on the same date as an existing AP shown on the screen.
You then use Function MAPD again to change the ‘dummy’ AP and add the final AP to the record as follows:
01/01/2023 to 31/12/2023
01/01/2024 to 31/12/2024
Remember that if the accounting period ends in February you should end the period on 29/02.
