SPE05080 - Authorising a Special Procedure: other forms of authorisation
Note: This manual is under review following Brexit and is likely to be withdrawn. If there is anything within this manual you use regularly, please email hmrcmanualsteam@hmrc.gov.uk to let us know. Please check the other guidance available on GOV.UK from HMRC.
As well as the ‘full’ authorisation for which the process of application and approval is explained in this section and in SPE04000, there are a number of other types of authorisation. Please refer to for information on these.
Other forms of authorisation include:
- authorisation by declaration (DA A163)
- oral declaration for Temporary Admission (UCC A6.1, 6.2, 6.3a and 211 and DA A165)
- declaration by any other act
- ATA or Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD) carnet (for application for TA).
Note: Northern Ireland (NI) customs authorisations will continue to fall within the provisions of the Union Customs Code (UCC), as retained by the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018 and CEMA 1979.
